a presentation in autumn 2019 from the planning department of ASÍ regarding the fulfillment of the pledged Quality of Life Agreement by the Icelandic government. A large part of this meeting consisted of a debate on public affairs, where the chairman outlined the main issues, especially regarding the long and dif- ficult negotiations with the City of Reykjavik. The Board was informed of the negotiations and sup- ported the decisions of the negotiating committee. The Efling Board reviewed a presentation on the status of a court case supported by Efling on behalf of its members who worked for the temporary work agency Menn í Vinnu. The Board discussed the fight in favor of imposing fines for breaking collective bargaining laws, as promised by the government as a part of its Quality of Life Agreement. The Board also discussed suspected violations of collective bargaining agreements by foreign bus companies. The Board favored an educational and awareness campaign called I Won’t Be Cheated in high schools during the fall of 2019. The Board of Efling remains vigilant in the fight for its members and the development of the union during the 2019-2020 fiscal year. At the Annual Meeting in April 2019 new board members took their seats, including Agnieszka Ewa Ziólkowska, the new Vice Chairman. The Board’s procedures were similar to the previous year. The Board meetings over the winter were held every two weeks under the direction of the chairman according to the agenda. An employee kept minutes for this meeting and the minutes for the last meeting were submitted for approval at the start of the meet- ing. The meeting and minutes were translated into English in order to facilitate the participation and access for Board members who are not native speakers of Icelandic. DEVOTED TO WAGE AGREEMENTS There were numerous discussions regarding the wages of Efling members. These included various issues regarding the follow up of collective bargain- ing agreements in the private labor market signed in April 2019 such as the non-compliance of indi- vidual companies in regards to the new agreement and labor market violations.
